Pricing Questions
Nobody likes a surprise on a drain job, so the money questions come first.
Call (07) 3522 3397What does clearing a blocked drain cost?
There is no set figure, because the cause, the depth of the pipe and the access all change the work. The plumber finds the fault first, then you get a fixed upfront price in writing before anything starts.
Why can't the price be given over the phone?
A choke behind a toilet and a collapsed run under the backyard are different jobs. A short camera inspection shows which one you have, so the quote reflects the real work rather than a guess.
Is the quote the final amount?
Yes. The price is agreed before work begins and does not move unless the job itself changes, and you would hear that from the plumber on site first, not on the invoice afterwards.
How do I pay for the job?
Once the drain runs free, pay by card or EFTPOS on the day. There is no invoice to chase later and no account to set up.
Booking and Timing Questions
A few minutes of preparation makes the visit itself run faster.
Call (07) 3522 3397How soon can a plumber come out?
Call early in the day and we can usually be there the same day. If the choke is minor, booking a regular time works just as well and keeps the day flexible.
What should I have ready when I ring?
Know which fixtures are slow or gurgling, whether the trouble started in heavy rain, and anything you know about the line, such as earthenware pipes from the original build.
Should I keep using the water while I wait?
No. Water you send down has nowhere to go but past the choke, so hold off showers, washing machines and flushing until the plumber arrives and says otherwise.
What if water is coming up inside the house?
Treat it as urgent. Stop using every fixture, keep kids and pets away from the spill, and ring straight away so the line can be cleared before it damages floors.
Services and Streets Questions
These cover what we do and how the suburb itself shapes the work. The drain services page lists every job in full.
Call (07) 3522 3397Which drain jobs do you handle?
Toilets, sewers, stormwater lines, fixture drains, camera inspections and pipe repairs, including relining where it suits. The drain services page lists each one with when it applies.
Who owns the pipe that is blocked?
Homeowners maintain their own line up to the boundary connection, and Urban Utilities owns the main beyond it. A camera pass shows which side the fault sits on, so repairs go where they should.
Do tree roots return after the line is cleared?
They can, where fine roots have found the open joints in old earthenware pipe. Clearing restores the flow, and filming the pipe afterwards shows whether a repair is needed to stop the same joint blocking again.
Does the steep ground change how drains behave?
It does. The slope helps and hinders: water runs off the ridge fast, yet solids settle where the pipe flattens out near the boundary, so chokes tend to form in that one level stretch.
Does storm season make blockages worse?
Between November and March, torrential rain can flood the yard gullies and pits sitting at the bottom of a sloping block before the lines downstream can carry it away. A partly choked line shows itself then, so a check before the storms start is worth it.
Which nearby suburbs do you cover?
Ashgrove, Red Hill, Paddington, Auchenflower and Toowong all sit on the regular run, and each has its own page describing the drain conditions there.
